Switched at Birth‘s Katie LeClerc is heading to CBS’ The Big Bang Theory.
LeClerc, who is hearing impaired in real life, has been tapped to guest star as Emily, a friend of Penny’s who is deaf.
According to EW.com, she will appear in the Oct. 6 episode of The Big Bang Theory, which kicks of its fifth season on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c.
Switched at Birth returns with the rest of its supersized first season in early 2012.

The critically acclaimed drama series, Switched at Birth has just received a full first season order from ABC Family. The network has ordered 12 more episodes to be filmed to finish out the season.
The series concludes its initial 10-episode summer run on Monday, August 8 at 9 p.m. and will return with 12 brand new episodes early next year.
Switched at Birth is typically Monday’s #1 TV telecast each week in females 12-34 as well as the #1 cable series in the 9 o’clock hour in key female demos.
“Viewers have fallen in love with this show just as we did when we first saw it,” said ABC Family president Michael Riley.
